Klaus
About Guardian:
Our first module of our second year of University had us split into groups to produce a 90 second animation with hopes to enter them into the short film competition ‘Depict’.
In our team of five I held the role of Producer and Model Maker of the Stop Motion based production 'Guardian'. Whilst working on minor bits of the set, my main focus was to design and make the character of 'Klaus', a choir boy who leaves a cathedral after choir practice to find that he is not alone on his walk through the grave yard. Please visit the projects web address below to see the full extent of myself and my production teams work. |
Klaus puppet:
One of the key features of Klaus' design is that as he is animated to walk, his robe swings like a bell giving him a cute and child-like appeal. I designed him with three different detachable heads so that he would be able to be animated conveying different emotions and expressions, whilst keeping the design simple which was a key factor due to the short time-span we had to make this film. Klaus had seperate eyelids (half blink and full blink) so that he was able to blink during the film so that his face wasn't static; his pupils were also able to move.
